Official Ducati MotoGP 2019 Team
The Ducati plant was the first to officially introduce the MotoGP team in 2019. Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci presented the Desmosedici GP19 livery to the public during a presentation at the Philip Morris R & D Cube in the city of Neuchâtel (Switzerland).
A big subject of discussion was the addition of the phrase “Mission Winnow” to the motorcycle livery and to the official team name. If in the past the name of the factory team sounded like the Ducati Team, then this year it will be Mission Winnow Ducati.
Tobacco giant Philip Morris International (PMI) has been a major sponsor of Ducati since 2003, despite the ban on branding Marlboro cigarettes. The company is currently working on the popularization of electronic cigarettes IQOS (aikos).
At first glance, the phrase Mission Winnow cannot be adequately translated, since Winnow literally translates as “blow” and is related to agricultural topics. If you take a closer look and mentally divide the second word into two parts, you get "Mission Win Now" - "Mission Win Now".
Luigi Dallina, general manager of Ducati Corse:
In 2018, we had another very important season for us at MotoGP. We have grown and improved again both from the technical side and from the sports side. 4 seasons in a row we are moving only forward.
We were very competitive even on those tracks that we traditionally had great difficulties on. We have achieved more victories and podiums in comparison with 2017.
Of course, our direct competitors have also improved. But we have to progress even more, bringing new ideas into reality and evolving in all possible areas.
We are confident Andrea and Danilo, and, as always, want to return the MotoGP title back to Borgo Panigale.
Andrea Dovitzioso # 04:
The season of 2018 was very positive for me. We started with a win. Despite the ups and downs, the difficulties pushed us to search for new directions, and over half the season we made a big step forward.
I am completely satisfied with the work done with the team. Practically in all races of the second half of the season we fought for the victory. In addition, I believe that we can improve on the upcoming tests, take a few important steps forward and start the new season in the best possible way.
The expectations are high. I have excellent feedback from the motorcycle and the team of mechanics. Now we have even more experience than last year, and the chances are even higher.
I am happy to share the garage with Danilo. We know each other well. Yes, we can fight on the track, but also, by working together, we can help Ducati develop a great package.
Danilo Petrucci # 09:
Last season was very important to me. I spent the best career season in terms of the number of points gained. And although I did not fulfill the goal of becoming the best racer among the independent teams, I ended the 2018 season on a positive note.
I am proud that I will perform in the colors of the factory team. I look forward to the opportunity to begin our journey. My new team and I have made excellent contact, and the technical level is higher than ever.
As for me, I know where else I can improve and changed the training program to be sure that I will be in the best shape for the first race of the season.
I am very glad that I have Andrea as a partner. He is not only a phenomenal racer, but also a wonderful person. We have long known a friend of a friend, and began to train with one goal: to spend a really strong season together.
